Mrs
Rochester (From 'Fairy lights and folk tales')
I roamed our house last night
Like a ghost.
There was a time when you
Knew me most.
She doesn’t even know I’m there
But I’ve seen her down those stairs
She has a place I used to know.
I was the crazy one
you couldn’t handle
Or speak of my name,
But I’m the one
with the candle
And I can speak in
flame
To light up our
history
To tell them our
story
And be myself
again.
I hear you speak her name
But I’m the echo…
You label me insane
Wish you could let go…
Where can I throw my feelings?
I’m burning down the ceilings
Any way to free us both.
