My new dance track with DJ Roman Messer

This song will be the first single from Roman Messer's new album. It comes out in January but has been released on YouTube now for you to hear!

New remix and release...

The Alex Sonata remix of 'Beautiful Rage' has had its world premiere as (the first ever) 'Track of the Week' on Gareth Emery's brand new radio show 'Electric for life'!

On show 003 it was revealed that it was also the show's first official EFL anthem of the week as voted by listeners- thank you!

EP Number 5 announced!

My 'Fairy lights and folk tales' EP was inspired by stories and the imagination. This new record has been inspired by fairy tales and the human experiences that feel magical.

My fifth (!!!) EP is called 'Magic and Midnight' and is coming soon!

My live version of 'Mrs Rochester' (feat. Roxanne Emery) is already online, but as I am fond of my Fairy Lights EP I wanted to do another live song for you.

I love this really sweet song by Paul McDonald and Nikki Reed called 'All I've Ever Needed', so wanted to do a little acoustic version. It's now up on YouTube and has had Paul McDonald's seal of approval too!

What's 'Fairy Lights and Folk Tales' about?

'Fairy Lights and Folk Tales' song meanings

 

'Yours'
Last year I fainted on the underground and not a single person helped me. My husband came across London to get me, literally 'picked me up'. So I wrote this song when I got home about belonging to someone, or having someone to depend on, when you feel that others don't care. Musically it's a simple structure, but it stays with you.

'Wait in the Rain'
I've always always been moved by the break-up scene in New Moon, because I can relate to being left suddenly by someone you love, like Bella was in the forest. I have felt those exact emotions. It inspired me to capture the feeling of the love, loss, emptiness, uncertainty and determination that comes with a break-up, in a song. I wanted the piano in this song to capture the emotions just as much as the lyrics, so took more time than usual on getting the part right.

'Mrs Rochester'
Jane Eyre is my favourite book and I've always related to her. However, having had broken engagements, I came to realise that actually I could relate to the first Mrs Rochester much more than I thought. This song is inspired by her story, but also my need and everyone's need, to tell their own stories when they are left behind. Of every song I've ever written, I felt most moved by this one when I finished it, both musically and lyrically.

I was literally sitting in a 'quiet', 'white' room when I wrote this song, and as I was thinking of what to write, I wrote about the process itself and how my mind works…

What's 'Deep Down Rebel' about?

Deep Down Rebel song meanings

Cold
This is about seeing someone I was with once, but now wouldn't  look me 'in the eye'. Essentially it's for anyone who's known love but then become strangers with that person.

Easy
This song is about how 'easy' it is for me to love and commit, and how 'easy' it should be to with the person you love.

Deep Down Rebel
This is about my frustration about not being able to do the things I want in life. Especially in terms of a day job and songwriting but also life in general too.

Girl Like Me
This was written in frustration of some people not acknowleging me as a singer/songwriter yet. That being who I am and not just a 'hobby'. But I wrote for anyone who is seen in a different way to how they'd like 'to be seen'.


Deep Down Rebel EP has a similar theme to Unconventional Girl in that I will always aim to do what I want and not be quiet about it :) LJ x
